Vintage Gibson Firebird
Gibson’s historic Firebird guitar has a rich heritage – many reknowned guitarists have created classic guitar tones and memorable recordings with the Gibson Firebird. The Firebird line began in 1963 – it was Gibson’s intention that the Firebird would compete with the modern colours, radical shapes and multiple pick ups of Fender guitars.
Automotive designer Ray Dietrich designed the Firebird with deliberate reference to 1950′s cars. The Firebird was Gibson’s first solid body neck-through guitar. Other notable features were banjo style tuners on the reverse of the headstock and mini humbucking pickups.
The Gibson Firebird has been popular with many great guitarists including:
Joe Perry of Aerosmith
Mick Taylor of The Rolling Stones
Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones
Clarence Gatemouth Brown
Warren Haynes of The Allman Brothers Band
Brian Jones The Rolling Stones
Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols
Dave Grohl of Nirvana
